The Ontario First Generation Bursary is an award provided to Ontario students with financial need who are the first in their family to attend postsecondary education.

You must meet the following eligibility requirements in order to be considered for the Ontario First Generation Bursary:

• Your parent(s) have never participated in post-secondary studies on either a full or part-time basis anywhere in the world.
• You’re enrolled in a first-entry program; graduate degree programs are not eligible.
• You don’t already have a post-secondary degree, diploma or certificate.
• You’re not receiving assistance through the Second Career program for your studies.
• You meet the citizenship and Ontario residency requirements as outlined on the OSAP Application for Full-Time Students.
• You must demonstrate financial need.

First Generation does not mean that the individual must be a new or first generation Canadian, or that new or first generation Canadians automatically qualify for the bursary. Typically, a student whose parents have a postsecondary degree, diploma, or certificate from another country would not be considered a First Generation student for the purposes of this bursary; however, discretion may be exercised in these cases, for example, in situations where the parents have been unable to use their educational qualifications in Canada.

• Click on the UOIT Awards and Financial Aid tab
• Under Bursary Applications (helpful links section), click on Start my application
• Click on Apply for Student Aid or View my Applications  
• Click continue
• From the list select the appropriate award
