My name is Avilumb Kakkar, I want to take this opportunity to introduce myself for the election for student governor on Durham College’s (DC) Board of Governors.  I’m running for governor because it has always been a dream of mine to serve the people. It's time to use technology, creativity and innovation to identify inefficiencies and ensure that changes and improvements can be made. We must embrace the diverse culture at DC so we can work together to achieve a common goal with accountability, transparency, and respect for each other. Students bring a lot to the college community. We all joined the organization with exciting dreams, excitement, love, and support for our college family. We hope for better future returns while investing our time and efforts now and that seems common to all of us.

As a potential governor, I must ensure everyone’s interest is taken care of by applying the governance skills I gained from my 4-years of leadership experience.
