SERVICE DESK SUPPORT DURING THE HOLIDAY CLOSURE

Please see the following important information from Information Technology Services (ITS) for support during the holiday closure.

Support calls:

While the Service Desks in the Computer Commons at the Oshawa and Whitby campuses, as well as the temporary Service Desk in the Library for Ontario Tech University, will be closed over the holiday period, ITS has arrangements in place to facilitate critical/emergency technical requests. The ITS Service Desk email and voice mail inboxes will be remotely monitored for emergency IT-related issues. For Service Desk voicemail and email time checks, please see the Table below.

Should you experience any emergency IT issue related to the core systems listed below, please contact the ITS Service Desk via email (servicedesk@dc-uoit.ca) or call 905.721.3333 option 1.

For departments that are in operation any day during the holiday period, e.g. Durham College's Bistro '67, please call the relevant support service contact as communicated by ITS for any emergencies.

Avoid login password issues:

To avoid login password issues during the holiday closure, please update your password before the break.

For Faculty and Staff, if you have not changed your network (computer) password in the last three months (Windows platform users), please take a minute and do so by holding down the Control, Alt, Delete buttons simultaneously on your keyboard and select "Change a Password". As you're most likely working virtually, please connect to the network via VPN and make this network password change. Of course, you can also make this change if you happen to be on-campus and connected to the network.

If you expect to log into institutional systems during the holiday break, please change your password on or before Friday, December 18th.  Given the college and university's closure dates of Thursday, December 24th through to Sunday, January 3rd, the IT Service Desk will also be closed for in-person password resets.
