The Villa Charities Scholarship Program provides financial support to Undergraduate and Graduate level students of all backgrounds and faiths, who believe in and help further Villa Charities’ mission to enrich lives through experiences and services that honour Italian culture and heritage.
Scholarship Criteria
Scholarships will be awarded by Villa Charities Foundation to students who meet the following criteria:
- Registered, full-time student at an accredited university or college.
- Students must be Canadian citizens or have permanent-residence status.
- Villa Charities’ mission is to enrich lives through experiences and services that honour Italian culture and heritage. Any person, regardless of background, that helps further this mission is encouraged to apply.
(A) Villa Charities Undergraduate Student Scholarship
Awards of $2,500 (to be used toward tuition only) will be presented to each of four (4) full-time Undergraduate Student(s) at an accredited Canadian university or college with the following criteria:
- Registered in an Undergraduate program and must be entering the second, third, or fourth year (if applicable) of the program
- Have a program GPA of 3.5 or higher. See Terms and Conditions for additional requirements.
- Demonstrates leadership qualities through various means such as volunteer community service
- Exhibits passion in their field of study. Preference given to students who demonstrate special interest in Italian heritage and culture as part of their program of study, such as through a co-op, internship, and/or an applied research project.
- Written essay (500-1,000 words) describing how they help further Villa Charities’ mission – to enrich lives through experiences and services that honour Italian heritage and culture
- Willingness to attend a meet and greet at Villa Charities Inc.
(B) Villa Charities Graduate Student Scholarship
Awards of $5,000 (to be used toward tuition only) will be presented to each of four (4) full-time Graduate student(s) at an accredited Canadian university or college with the following criteria:
- Registered in a Graduate program
- Have a program GPA of 3.5 or higher. See Terms and Conditions for additional requirements.
- Demonstrates leadership qualities through various means such as volunteer community service
- Exhibits passion in their field of study. Preference given to students who demonstrate special interest in Italian heritage and culture as part of their program of study, such as through a co-op, internship, and/or an applied research project.
- Written essay (500-1,000 words) describing how they help further Villa Charities’ mission – to enrich lives through experiences and services that honour Italian culture and heritage
- Willingness to attend a meet and greet at Villa Charities Inc.

Deadline
Application and supporting documents must be submitted (via email) by Tuesday, June 30, 2020 to be awarded for the September 2020 academic year.
Timeline
Applications will be reviewed in July 2020 and successful applicants will be notified in August 2020. Financial awards will be transferred directly to the student’s post-secondary institution in September 2020.
Selection Process
The selection and adjudication process will be conducted by the Villa Charities Scholarship Awards Selection Committee.
Recognition
Villa Charities may recognize each recipient in published materials and electronically where appropriate.
