The James Lee Foundation will begin accepting submissions for its annual scholarship on August 1.

Established in 2007 to honour the creative legacy of the late James Lee, the scholarship provides at least $5,000 to an art student enrolled in an accredited institution and is open to non-professional creative talent from across Canada.

Artists from all disciplines are encouraged to enter, including filmmakers, recording artists, illustrators, painters, photographers, writers and digital artists.

The judging panel will consider originality, craftsmanship, volume of production and long-term artistic potential.

Portfolio submissions will be accepted online from August 1 through September 15, 2017. The judging will be completed by September 30, and the winner will be notified in writing and announced publicly in November.
