Application Status: Closed

Application Due Date: October 02, 2015

Awards Details:

The 2016 Rob MacIsaac Fellowship is an opportunity to develop and apply your transportation interests in a real-life setting, gain valuable work experience and have a positive impact on the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area’s multi-modal transportation network.

We are seeking candidates from all fields of study with a fresh perspective and creative transportation ideas.

Metrolinx is an agency of the Government of Ontario with a mission to champion, develop and implement an integrated transportation system for our region that enhances prosperity, sustainability and quality-of-life in the GTHA. Established in honour of Metrolinx’s first Chair, Rob MacIsaac, the fellowship program allows you to complete an innovative transportation project during your school term (from January through April, 2016) with guidance from a senior Metrolinx staff advisor, along with your academic supervisor. Following the completion of your project, you will transition into a paid internship in a relevant Metrolinx division (from May through August 2016).

Requirements

You must be:

  • Enrolled in an Ontario university or college between January and April 2016 (graduate or undergraduate program) and
  • Able to undertake your project at your current academic institution, under the guidance of an academic advisor on a topic that contributes to the requirements of your degree.

Applications

Provide a cover letter and resume, with a clear, concise project proposal (maximum 500 words) that describes:

  • The proposed transportation-related topic, and how the project is innovative
  • How the research can further Metrolinx’s mission and where it could potentially fit in the Metrolinx organization
  • Any specific requirements of Metrolinx for you to complete your proposed project (e.g. access to data).

We welcome fresh, creative and innovative proposals grounded in any field of study (e.g., urban planning, engineering, information technology, public or business administration, marketing, law, communications, environmental studies or other).
