Student Tuition Reimbursement Program

Kal Tire offers financial support to post-secondary education students who wish to pursue casual employment opportunities with Kal Tire during winter and/or spring rush seasons.  

Eligibility

  • Students must be enrolled or starting in a full time post-secondary education program at an accredited college, university or technical institute as of September or January of each year (To be eligible for full-time student assistance, you must be registered in at least 60% of a full course load).
  • Students are in good standing in their declared degree/diploma with their university, college or technical institute.
  • The annual reimbursement will be granted to the student provided they earn a grade of “C” or better.
  • Students agree to commit to working with Kal Tire a minimum of 200 hours/year and must be available a minimum of 16 hours/week for winter and/or spring rush.

Program Details

1st year of program: $500 reimbursement

  • Completion of a minimum of 200 hours work during winter and/or spring rush.
  • Student is available to work 16 hours per week during winter and/or spring rush.
  • Must be starting or returning to school in September or January of that year.
  • Received a successful recommendation from manager.

2nd year of program: $750 reimbursement

  • Completed and passed prior year courses and 1st year of Kal Tire Education Assistance Program.
  • Completion of 2nd year winter and/or spring rush of 200 hours.
  • Student is available to work 16 hours per week during winter and/or spring.
  • Must be starting or returning to school in September or January of that year.
  • Received a successful recommendation from manager.

3rd year of program: $1,000 reimbursement

  • Completed and passed prior year courses and 2nd year of Kal Tire Education Assistance Program.
  • Completion of 3rd year winter and/or spring rush of 200 hours.
  • Student is available to work 16 hours per week during winter and/or spring rush.
  • Must be starting or returning to school in September or January of that year.
  • Received a successful recommendation from manager.

4th year of program: $1,000 reimbursement

  • Completed and passed prior year courses and 3rd year of Kal Tire Education Assistance Program.
  • Completion of 4th year winter and/or spring rush of 200 hours.
  • Student is available to work 16 hours per week during winter and/or spring rush.
  • Must be starting or returning to school in September or January of that year.
  • Received a successful recommendation from manager.

Educational Financial Assistance Terms of Agreement
Kal Tire reserves the right to cancel its Educational Financial Assistance at its discretion, including retracting any offers for casual employment. 

  • Students should be flexible enough to work at a variety of locations, if required.
  • Students are required to work flexible work hours (after school, evenings, Saturdays).
  • Students are required to show manager proof of tuition and/or book payment, attendance and course success upon completion of each school term. (Receipts must be descriptive and dollar amounts must be clearly marked).
  • Students will be reimbursed at the end of their school year upon successful completion of all classes and obtained the minimum work hour requirement.
  • Students that quit their schooling will automatically forfeit their eligibility for reimbursement.
  • Students that leave Kal Tire without completing all the requirements for the program year will be paid a pro-rated amount, based on the hours earned                                         

Employment ending after 100 hours of work = 25% pro-rated               
Employment ending after 150 hours of work = 50% pro-rated
