The Robert K. Brown Scholarship was launched on May 6, 2000 as a part of Tropicana’s 20th
anniversary
celebrations. Throughout its history, Tropicana has been a catalyst for human and social development.
The scholarship supports those who have made a commitment to the betterment of the community at
large. In 2015, the Robert K. Brown Scholarship will be presented at Tropicana’s Annual General Meeting
on Wednesday June 24, 2015 at Tropicana’s Centre of Excellence (1385 Huntingwood Dr.).
Who is Eligible?
The Robert K. Brown Scholarship is open to residents of the Greater Toronto Area who are between the
ages of 16 and 29 and of African or Caribbean heritage.
Applicants must:
- Have acceptance for or be attending a post‐secondary institution
- Demonstrate their inclination towards the social services field either through paid or volunteer
experience or current field of study
Scholarship Amount:
$1,500
Application Requirements:
A complete application package must contain the following information:
- 500‐800 word essay which includes
o A brief biography
o Explanation of the applicant’s inclination towards the social services field
- Signed declaration allowing committee to verify information provided
- School transcripts
- Verification of outstanding achievements
- 2 letters of reference from non‐relatives
- Letter of acceptance from college or university or proof of current attendance
- Any other documents which may support this application

Complete applications packages must be received by the address below by Monday June 1, 2015 at
5pm.
