Founded in 1975, the College Student Alliance (CSA) is a member-driven advocacy organization which proudly serves Ontario’s college students. The CSA currently represents over 70% of all Ontario college students consisting of 15 colleges and 22 student associations with over 135,000 full-time students throughout the province. As the only officially recognized voice for college and college-university students in Ontario, the CSA has a seat at the table of virtually every government and stakeholder committee and task force relating to postsecondary education. As a united voice through the CSA, college students have a powerful lobbying voice that is recognized for its depth of knowledge and ability to provide sustainable solutions to the issues facing postsecondary students.

SCHOLARSHIP OVERVIEW

This is an annual scholarship presented by the College Student Alliance (CSA) Board of Directors to 15 outstanding individuals across the province who have demonstrated leadership qualities within their college community through volunteerism and participation in organizations primarily focused on helping others. The College Student Alliance Scholarship was created by the 2010 CSA membership to give recognition to Students who have shown leadership, while maintaining a high standard of scholastic success in their chosen programs. The recipient of this scholarship will receive a framed certificate, a letter of recognition, and a financial award of $1000.00. The recipients will be presented their award at the CSA annual May conference. Award recipients unable to attend May Conference will be presented with their award on their home campus at a pre arranged date prior to May. The scholarships will be awarded to students who demonstrate exceptional merit without regard to financial need.

ELIGIBILITY

  • Must be a student currently enrolled in a program at a school listed as a member of the CSA
  • Must maintain and provide proof of good academic standing
  • Demonstrate leadership and ability to motivate others
  • Demonstrate how efforts benefitted community and college
  • Provide testament in own words of their community involvement and concern for improving the lives of others.

CRITERIA

  • Good citizenship, as demonstrated by positive and variable service to the college community
  • The ability to motivate others and demonstrate outstanding leadership to improve the lives of other people while attending a post-secondary institution in Ontario
  • Good academic standing as demonstrated by acceptance to or continuation, without failures, in a full-time post-secondary program at a CSA member college with an overall average of 75% or above.
