Who is Eligible?          

Students from Durham Region or the Municipality of Port Hope entering their second year of study in one of the following:

  • Students who are from a farm entering the second year of any degree or diploma program
  • Students who are entering the second year of undergraduate studies in Agriculture at the University of Guelph in one of either B. Commerce or B.Sc. or O.V.C. whether or not they are from a farm
  • Students who are entering the second year of Diploma studies in agriculture or veterinary technology at either one of the Ridgetown,  Kemptville or Durham College whether or not they are from a farm
  • Preference will be given to students having demonstrated interest in beef cattle production

 Amount of Scholarship:  $1000.00

This is a one-time scholarship i.e. those students who have received the scholarship entering OAC would not be eligible a 2nd time if accepted into OVC. The cheque will be made payable when the student is enrolled in their second year.

How To Apply:       

Students are asked to submit an essay to the Durham Cattlemen’s Association (DCA) on a topic determined by DCA. The essay is not to be more than 500 words in length. A selection committee appointed by the DCA will review the essays. Candidates deemed successful by the selection committee will be invited to attend an interview. Based on the quality of the essay and the results of the interview a successful candidate will be chosen.
