Since everyone has different transit needs because of time and location, UOIT and Durham College have teamed up to provide you with access to a transit expert who can assist you with your choice of transit needs.

Simply email publictransit@dc-uoit.ca and ask the transit expert, you can get whatever kind of transit information you need.

Please make sure that you include your start time and location and your departure time and any other information that would make it easier for us to assist you and we will respond within two business days.

  • UPASS Questions and Answers

    What is the UPASS?

    The U-Pass is a universal transit pass that every full-time post-secondary student is assessed and charged for in their student fees. The U-Pass allows students to ride on any Durham Region Transit (DRT) bus and selected GO Transit bus while in the Region of Durham Region during the academic year (September 1, 2010 to May 31, 2011). The U-Pass will also be available to full-time summer students only from June 1, 2010 to August 31, 2010. The fee for the summer U-Pass will be $90 and will be charged in the student fees. There is no option to opt in or out.

    You must have your 2012/2013 ID card before your first classes to present for U-Pass transit.

    How do I get on the bus?

    Bus stops are located on all routes across the Durham Region, when getting on the bus you must show your valid student ID card which will have the UPASS icon.

    What if I live outside Durham Region?

    If you live outside of Durham Region selected GO Transit buses will require you to purchase full fare to the campus, however, Durham Region Transit has introduced the 900 Pulses which travels for U of T Scarborough Campus to Oshawa at no additional fee.

    Does everyone have to purchase the pass?

    All full-time postsecondary students at Durham College are assessed and charged by the Registrar's office for the U-Pass fee when paying tuition. It costs $154 for the fall and winter semesters: Valid from September 1, 2013 until May 31, 2014.

    The Summer UPASS program begins May 1, 2013 and is charged to all eligible Full Time Durham and UOIT students registered full time from May through to late August. The charge for this program is $90.00. Students are responsible for visiting the Campus ID office to obtain the summer sticker.

    Is it transferable?

    No because you must have your student ID card to board the bus.

    Is there a limit I can use it?

    There is no limit to the number of times that you can use the U-Pass. It is valid from September 1, 2013 to May 31, 2014 and the summer UPASS is valid from June 12013 to August 31, 2013

    Does it work for transfers?

    Yes.

    Does it work on GO Trains?

    No.
